Mailday Monday Brings In A Trading First

It was a Triple Mailday Monday with a pair of trade returns in the mailbox and an additional Javier Baez 2018 Topps silver pack Refractor from eBay. 

Tonight's trade review is courtesy of @paulender1. We finalized a trade of Eric Davis cards for Cubs cards. Paul found 187 Cubs cards, while I had 175 Eric Davis cards. 

In a tweet conversation over the weekend, one follower asked how I sorted large bulk lots I acquire. Initially, I will cherry pick superstars and, of course, Cubs. Eric Davis happens to be a superstar that I cherry pick, and I've actually had a few trade partners request Davis over the past few years. 

Paul's package arrived today and I was impressed with how well packaged it came. All 187 Cubs cards were sleeved! 

One of my favorites here is a Dustin Geiger Topps Pro Debut. Geiger was one of my favorite players when I worked with the Peoria Chiefs in 2012. His name was tricky to announce when I did the PA, so I often practiced an exciting "DUSTIN GEIGER," off microphone. Give him a follow. He's still in pro baseball now with the Marlins, and is very active on Twitter.

I can't say there is a favorite card in this return, because there are too many. So I'll highlight a few. Kris Bryant is here in numbers. First, this is the Snowflake Parallel from 2017 Topps Holiday. 

More Bryant with this 2015 Panini USA. Another Bryant and another new addition to the collection. 

Geiger, as mentioned earlier, was teammates on that 2012 Peoria Chiefs team with Javier Baez. Baez, my Cubs PC player, is represented in this box with this 2015 Donruss Elite.

Sticking with current Cubs players, here's another nice hit. Addison Russell 2017 Topps Chrome pink Refractor.

Another new add is perfect! 2017 Topps postseason celebrations Insert. This is the greatest sports celebration of my fanhood, and will forever remain number one on that list. Nothing else can top the 2016 World Series from a fan standpoint.

Here's another Topps Chrome Refractor. This is the 2016 Topps Chrome sepia Refractor of Jake Arrieta. This is my least favorite of the Refractors, but it's new to my collection!

Speaking of new to the collection, this may be my favorite card here. I've never seen these cards. It's a 2015 Leaf Kyle Schwarber. I love the border, reminiscent of 1990 Leaf, but with the clear background around Schwarber. 

Duane Underwood still has the potential to reach Chicago, but resides in the minor leagues. This is his 2012 Elite Extra Edition.

Darwin Barney made the news today signing with the Texas Rangers. This is a great card of Barney: 2008 Bowman Chrome.

Remember Felix Pie? He was a can't miss prospect that missed. The Cubs had many of those in the 1990's. That sounds like a great countdown blog for the future. Here's a Pie 2008 Bowman Chrome.

Another 2000's rookie card here in Rocky Cherry. I have a Cherry autographed baseball because I loved his name. Ironically, within months after I acquired a Rocky Cherry autograph in 2007, I met two people named Rocky (not Balboa). 

Finally, this is probably my favorite card of the bunch. Mike Olt! He was thought of as a prospect that could miss, and did. How about this? A 2014 Topps Tier One autograph 180/399. Too Cool!

This autograph can go in my Olt collection. I also own a pair of Olt's game used cleats.
