Huge Trade Nets Nearly 4,000 Cubs Cards

My second large flat rate box of Cubs came on Saturday from Rick in Dover, NH. This trade brought in 3,634 Cubs cards. In return, I'll be sending Patriots, Red Sox, and  a Tim Wallach lot. 

There was plenty of Ryno inside...to the tune of 315 Ryne Sandberg cards in all.

And there were plenty of Anthony Rizzo cards as well. 

Some oversized oddball of Leon Durham and Jody Davis.

Vintage from 1972 Topps including Juan Pizarro, Bill Bonham, and Glenn Beckert with a 1974 Topps Larry Gura.

Also from 1974 Topps...a couple Ron Santo All Star cards.

Before this trade I didn't have a single 1987 Donruss Highlights Billy Williams. Now I have 38 of them.

Several of these two oddballs I've never seen. The backsides reveal they are from 1986 from Sports Design Products. 

More oddball of Mike Harkey. Loved these unlicensed cards that flooded the market in the late 80's and early 90's.

My big hit in this box is Ty Griffin. I really love Ty Griffin oddballs.

One player I couldn't recall was Mario Encarnacion as pictured below in this 2002 Topps. One follower on Twitter mentioned he was an Oakland Athletics prospect, and that rung a bell for me.

Speaking of top prospects that missed the mark. The Cubs had plenty, and so did this box. Remember: Lance Dickson, Kevin Orie, Josh Vitters, Felix Pie, Gary Scott, Hector Villanueva, Brooks Kieschnick, and Corey Patterson?

Last week I had a dream that I was pitching at Wrigley Field. My opponent was the Chicago Cubs. What I remember from the dream is broadcasting play-by-play as I pitched. The only batter I remember facing was Jose Vizcaino. He hit a 2-run double off me, although it could have been a RBI single with runners advancing on a throwing error by my center fielder (maybe it was Corey Patterson!).

Finally, a logo card I've never seen. Appears it's from Post made in 1982.
