Saturday Brings Another In-Person Trade and Some Minor League Baseball Team Sets
My mom's birthday was Friday August 31, so I drove down to Illinois to celebrate the occasion. It just so happened that Shannon in Sterling had more monster boxes of cards for me, and I had a Pearl Jam poster for him.
On Saturday afternoon as I meandered back to Wisconsin I made a detour to Sterling and made the swap. One Pearl Jam poster for 15 monster boxes of cards.
That's a few of them. In fact, I was so busy over the long weekend fulfilling trades, Sportlots and eBay orders that I've only dug into three boxes. With that, I do not have an accurate count of the Cubs inside.
When I arrived home there was a small flat rate box from STB Minors. They are my go-to dealer for minor league team sets. Their prices are really competitive, if a team store is out of stock.
Six sets were inside, including a 2014 Kane County Cougars that features David Bote's second minor league card.
Bote's first card was also here: inside the 2013 Kane County Cougars set.
Starlin Castro was in the 2010 Tennessee Smokies set.
I also ordered the 2014 Tennessee Smokies set.
The 2012 Daytona Cubs set featured an awesome wood border, and I had no idea that Yankees infielder Ronald Torreyes was in the Cubs system. After a check at Baseball Reference he came to the Cubs with Travis Wood from the Reds in the Sean Marshall trade.
And the 2014 Daytona Cubs set featured Willson Contreras.
