Today's Mailday Added New Cubs From 1951 to 2018

Friday's a great day. The mailman delivered a great mailday. Three packages arrived filled with Cubs goodness, plus an extra box of cards. But the fourth package of cards won't be going into my collection. They will be shipped out in my eBay sales and given out at card shows.

I'm a terrible graphic designer. The logo is great (my wife created it), and I probably should have sought out her designing expertise to create the business card. But, Vista Print was running a 50% sale and I jumped in. Let's get to the good stuff.

First, we have a Sportlots order. On occasion I'll search seller inventory to pick up Javier Baez cards in volume. One seller had nine Baez cards at $0.18 including one Topps Heritage rookie.

So, then I checked out the rest of his cards and he had a sweet deal on 1951 Bowman. At $3 a pop, I checked out the Cubs checklist and went shopping. First up was #102 Dutch Leonard.

Then #175 Wayne Terwilliger. As of a few years ago, Terwilliger was a great singer through the mail (TTM). I was able to get a baseball signed as well as a color photo of him in a Rangers uniform (coaching).

Hal Jeffcoat comes in at #211 in the set.

And Bill Serena is card #246.

The last Cubs card in his 1951 Bowman inventory was #247 Bob Ramazotti.

Drew, a.k.a. NYHobbyClub on Twitter was the second package. We made a deal that had me send him some 2018 Topps Heritage Minors he needed to finish off the set. He returned some pretty sweet Cubs cards that I needed.

There was a Topps Heritage ad panel that features rookie Victor Caratini (along with Mike Gerber and former Cub Alex Avila).

My first regular Heritage Cubs magenta back of Brandon Morrow, along with a purple chrome.

Also my first Topps Gold Label for 2018 featuring Ryne Sandberg, Yu Darvish, and Ernie Banks.

Short prints from Gold Label included an Ernie Banks 29/150.

And a Class 3 Yu Darvish 21/50.

Now onto the mother lode. Josh from Oklahoma sent a medium flat rate box with a total of 901 Cubs cards, several of which are new to the collection. Here's a recap of some newbies.

2006 Topps Bazooka Insert Derrek Lee.

2008 Topps Heritage Chrome Refractor Ryan Dempster 122/559.
