One Million Cubs Project Is Heating Up

Last week was a bit slower in terms of Cubs cards added to the collection and overall maildays. However; it was a great week of the project being spotlighted.

For several weeks I've been talking with Stewart from Club 400 on making an appearance on his podcast. With scheduling conflicts on each side over about a month, we finally connected and recorded the episode. We talked about the project, baseball cards, and the Cubs. If you're a Cubs fan, this is a great podcast to hear about Cubs fans.

Club 400's motto is "Cubs fans helping Cubs fans," so it's only fitting that each episode is a tribute to....a Cubs fan. I've really enjoyed listening to episodes of their previous guests and look forward to many more.

On that note, I'll be hanging out with Stewart and William this weekend at Club 400 for the Christmas party. The special guest is Miguel Montero. Since I already have a signed Montero baseball, I think I'm going to print an 8x10 of Montero and I at the Kerry Wood fundraiser from a couple years ago for him to sign.

The last two weekends I've been at weddings, so the hobby has taken a backseat. Things will change this weekend as it's going to be all about the hobby. My buddy Dave and I will be attending the Club 400 Christmas party, but we will also be hitting up the Chicago Sports Spectacular card show.

I have two in-person trades scheduled with David and Steve. David and I already did a flat rate box trade recently when I sent him a bunch of Red Sox. Steve reached out and said he has around 30,000 Cubs he can bring. I've been feverishly sorting Astros, Reds, and Nationals for him and hope to have close to 15,000 to swap.

There are two other big trades in the works, with one of them being in-person with a collector near my hometown in Illinois. We'll be swapping around 8,000 Cubs for White Sox. The other trade will be through the mail Cubs for Blue Jays, which could exceed 10,000-15,000 cards. Needless to say, I've been doing a lot of sorting lately.

As I've been sorting, there have been a few monster boxes untouched from purchases and trades over the past year. One box had 2.5 rows of Cubs, with several other boxes containing Cubs cards. All in all, I have found an additional 1,896 Cubs cards over the past week as I've been sorting for these big trades. Wins all around.

Finally, Raul from Murcia, Spain reached out to me several weeks ago and conducted an interview via email for the website, Pitcheos Salvajes. The interview was published this week, and Raul was kind enough to send a pair of Kris Bryant cards to me!

There was no mailday on Monday due to the observance of Veteran's Day, but a few packages did arrive on Tuesday. Stay tuned.
