Trades From Ohio, Michigan, and Arizona in Thursday's Mail
Last week was a slow mail week for the One Million Cubs Project. Things have certainly changed this week as four packages arrived on Thursday.
Three trade packages came - from Arizona, Ohio, and Michigan, and the fourth package was from a case break of 2018 Elite Extra Edition. I'll include the count (24 cards) in this mailday, but will have a special post of the contents this weekend.
Courtney in Ohio sent a package of 47 Cubs. There was plenty of Bryzzo here!
A couple 2018 Topps Gold parallels. I think I'm pretty close to the complete gold set now.
And a Pedro Strop rainbow foil. This is our second trade, and I'll be sending some Nationals back to Courtney.
Brian in Arizona also sent a second package to the project. On the way to Chandler will be some Robin Yount and Paul Molitor cards. The first thing I noticed inside the bubble mailer were some Kris Bryant cutouts. Whoah, magnets! Awesome!
Also in the package were a trio of 2018 Topps Holiday: Kyle Schwarber, Yu Darvish, and Cole Hamels. I didn't buy any Topps Holiday this year, so these are my first cards.
This is a really cool Jackie Robinson logo patch of Addison Russell. With the further developments regarding Russell's personal issues, I really hope the Cubs just release him. I don't want that type of person wearing a Cubs uniform.
Here's a red parallel of 2013 Topps Jeff Samardzija.
Another new add is from 2011 Topps Lineage: Kosuke Fukudome.
Boy, do these stand out. 2011 Topps Diamond Anniversary of Blake DeWitt, Carlos Silva, and Andrew Cashner.
Here's a new Dan Vogelbach for my collection: 2015 Donruss Elite Hype.
And Marco Hernandez Diamond in the Rough insert from 2013 Bowman Platinum.
Matthew in Michigan sent another package. We've been swapping boxes all year long. He's the recipient of most of my Royals cards. This box provided several new Cubs for my collection. One of my three main player collections is Dylan Cease, and here's four more for the collection.
Before Dylan Cease, my big prospect I was chasing was Jeremy Papelbon (hopefully Cease's career turns out better than Papelbon). Jeremy was the younger brother of Jonathan Papelbon, and there was another brother named Josh Papelbon. I don't get too many Jeremy Papelbon cards in trades. Here are two classics.
Hadn't seen this 2017 Donruss the Prospects Eloy Jimenez before. I love it!
The Baez/Bryant from 2018 Topps is awesome. The rainbow foil version is awesomer.
Two new Ian Happ cards, both variations from 2018 Donruss Optic.
Is this a new Ryno? I have the Quaker Chew Granola Ryne Sandberg, but this card seems to be sealed. I'm just going to leave it be.
Matthew added a bunch of the 2018 Topps Holiday cards, including my man Javier Baez!
He threw in some vintage 1972 Topps (Phil Regan and J.C. Martin) and a 1973 Topps Jose Cardenal.
Billy Williams checks in with a 1973 Topps Batting Leaders and 1974 Topps All Star cards.
I'll be posting a separate entry for the fourth package which was the results of the 2018 Elite Extra Edition box break.
