That 70's Mailday

For the first time I was happy that there was a holiday that closed the USPS. My mailday posts are beginning to back up this week as I catch up from Cubs Convention weekend, trades, eBay sales, and a couple winter storms.

Another Cole Roederer came in the mail Tuesday. This was a purchase from an eBay gift card. It’s a 2018 Leaf Ultimate Draft autograph. Really love the design of this card.

A PWE from Brian arrived with some vintage. He sent eight cards including a 1970 Topps Leo “The Lip” Durocher. On a side note: I’m excited for the 1970 design for Topps Heritage this year. The last three years (1967, 1968, 1969) are some of my least favorite, so for me it will be refreshing to enter in the 1970’s designs.

Here’s the rest of his package, including a 1972 Topps Randy Hundley. I’ve seen him three different times in the last month and this would have been a sweet card to get signed.

Dave in Schenectady, New York sent over a box with 350 Cubs inside. He also writes a column for the Autograph Review and sent a nice handwritten note. A nice selection with a few new cards for my collection. I do have these 2014 Elite Extra Edtion cards of James Norwood, Carson Sands, and Jordan Brink, but I have few so always nice to get some more.

A couple of possibly new to me Kerry Wood cards. Last week I attended Woody’s Winter Warmup for Kerry’s and his wife’s foundation. Read all about it HERE.

Starlin Castro from 2012 Topps Opening Day. This Fantasy Squad insert was needed.

Couple of inserts of Cubs greats Greg Maddux and Mark Grace.

Javy Baez rookie! I have very few of these from 2015 Elite.

The Cubs have signed Brad Brach and Daniel Descalso this off-season. I love name alliteration and Arismendy Alcantara was a favorite.

Man, I was so excited about Brett Jackson early on. I watched him tear it up for the Peoria Chiefs and he looked great. Unfortunately, that low minor league production didn’t carry over to the big leagues.
