Ozzie, Oddballs, and The Bull

One long box fit just inside my mailbox and inside were 920 Cubs baseball cards courtesy of Mike in Maryland.

The selection was a great mix and included an autograph of Ozzie Timmons from 1996 Leaf Signature Series.

Another hit in the form of a jersey Relic of Ian Happ from 2018 Allen & Ginter.

Kellogg’s 3-D Superstars are among my favorite oddballs. I failed to realize the skinny version of these cards lasted as recent as 1983, as this Leon “The Bull” Durham. It’s a newbie for my collection and a great early photo of The Bull.

Not sure what this oddball of Gabby Hartnett is. Appears to be from a cutout as it has perforated edges. It seems to be an older card, maybe 1960s or early 1970s.

A couple Goudey reprints Kiki Cuyler and Frank Demaree.

Two Billy Williams oddballs from TCMA. The rookie of the year card is from 1985 and the Baseball’s Greatest from 1982.

Ernie Banks checks in with a couple oddballs from the 1982 TCMA’s Baseball’s Greatest and the 1985 set featuring his National League MVP season.

From 1988 Score, this Andre Dawson appears to be a box bottom and is hand cut.

This was a great box of cards from Mike, who belongs to a group called OBC (Old Baseball Cards).
