Opening Day Special With More Than 1,000 Cubs Cards

Technically, this is not an Opening Day Mailday. Two packages arrived on Wednesday, and the mailbox was empty on actual Opening Day today, March 28.

The first package was an envelope from Gary in Connecticut who sent six Cubs plus an Anthony Rizzo Red Sox card. I sent Gary a Manon Rheaume card along with a couple Yankees.

While the Rizzo does not count towards the Cubs goal, this card will go in my Rizzo player binder once things get organized and sorted.

A big box from Steve in Tennessee provided 1,014 Cubs cards. This is my third or fourth trade with Steve, as I send him Red Sox cards.

Many of the cards are duplicates, two of them are newbies. This Ryne Sandberg oddball is actually an exclusive offer from Sportflics. Kind of like an advertisement that was inside packs. It’s not actually a baseball card in its truest form, but I’ll be counting it.

The next new card was put out by Sporting News in 1988. This card features Guy Bush who was a National League All Star in 1933.

Oh, and Happy Birthday to Shawn Boskie. Some Boskie cards were in the mix.
