2019 Bowman Cubs Checklist Preview

Bowman will be released next week (Wednesday April 17) and it's always one of the most anticipated checklists of the year, if not the most.

Prospectors love the Bowman product, and the Chrome prospect autographs are highly sought after. Bowman is on my short list of favorite products (maybe third or fourth behind Heritage, Heritage Minors, and Allen & Ginter).

The checklist for 2019 Bowman came out this week, and the Cubs are not as well represented as I would have expected.

BASE CARDS

18 Anthony Rizzo

31 Francisco Arcia

51 Kris Bryant

Only three Cubs base cards are in the 100-card checklist. Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo are no-brainers here. Francisco Arcia? Despite being Cubs obsessed, I needed a reminder of who Arcia was. He was acquired in the offseason after appearing in 40 games for the Angels last year. The catcher is currently playing for the Iowa Cubs. Equally surprising is the absence of Javier Baez.

PROSPECTS

BP-35 Miguel Amaya

BP-59 Nico Hoerner

BP-84 Aramis Ademan

BP-90 Keegan Thompson

CHROME PROSPECTS

BCP-35 Miguel Amaya

BCP-59 Nico Hoerner

BCP-84 Aramis Ademan

BCP-90 Keegan Thompson

Four Cubs in the prospects checklist, and I'm excited to see Nico Hoerner and Miguel Amaya here.

BOWMAN SCOUTS TOP 100

BTP-81 Miguel Amaya

BOWMAN SCOUTS TOP 100 AUTOGRAPH PARALLEL

BTP-81 Miguel Amaya

Amaya is the lone Cub in the Top 100 prospects. This is a great insert set.

30TH ANNIVERSARY CARDS

B30-AR Anthony Rizzo

B30-KB Kris Bryant

B30-MA Miguel Amaya

30TH ANNIVERSARY CARDS AUTOGRAPH PARALLEL

B30-AR Anthony Rizzo

B30-KB Kris Bryant

B30-MA Miguel Amaya

These will be awesome. An homage to the 1989 Bowman set!

CHROME PROSPECTS AUTOGRAPH VARIATION

CPA-KT Keegan Thompson

CPA-MAM Miguel Amaya

Two Cubs are in the super hot chrome autograph set. Miguel Amaya autographs will be on fire, and I will likely be priced out buying singles.

2019 BOWMAN STERLING CONTINUITY AUTOGRAPH VARIATION

BSA-KB Kris Bryant

Another autograph subset, and these will likely be short printed and hard to find.

With box prices as high as they are (hobby boxes with one autograph per box run $135-140 and jumbo boxes with three autographs are about $320 per box). I'll be stalking the card shelves in Wal-Mart and Target and buying retail.
