West Coast Cubbies
The west coast is where two packages of Cubs arrived on Monday. Amador in Vacaville, California and Ty in Seattle, Washington sent some sweet Cubs cards.
Amador’s box contained a couple hits, like this Ron Cey in-person Autograph on a 1987 Fleer.
Fire! It’s Topps Fire of Ryne Sandberg from the 2018 set. This card is numbered 148/299. Topps Fire is such an underrated set. I really like it, and will always scoop up several blaster boxes when it hits the retail shelves in the summer.
A Carl Edwards Jr. 2016 Topps Chrome Youth Impact green Refractor numbered 17/99.
Ty in Seattle sent another box. We completed a trade several weeks ago in which I sent him some Ken Griffey Jr. and Edgar Martinez cards. Ty gave me a heads up that he pulled a 2018 Topps Chrome red Refractor of Javier Baez. Whoah! It’s numbered 11/25. Such an awesome card!
Allen & Ginter is always a must grab for me, and I’ve written about the product several times. It’s a classic look, but it’s also not a product for everyone. The checklist also includes actors and other non-sports celebrities. It even contains some odd-the-wall hits. Last year I pulled a shark tooth. Yes, an actual shark tooth embedded inside a baseball card. I digress. Here’s a baseball hit. More importantly a Cubs hit. A framed jersey relic of Carlos Marmol from the 2012 Allen & Ginter set.
More Javy! This is from the 2019 Topps Inception set. It’s a high-end product that I typically do not buy, so it’s awesome to receive these cards in trade packages.
Another nice hit is a Jose Albertos Bowman Chrome Refractor numbered 83/499.
