Another New Javier Baez Added to the Cubs Collection
Some nice Cubs cards came on Tuesday. John in New Jersey and Robert in California sent Cubs baseball cards.
This is my third or fourth trade with John. In this package he sent an Addison Russell 2018 Donruss jersey relic numbered 85/99.
Another 2018 Donruss hit from Kris Bryant. This is a parallel numbered 174/199.
Two more Gypsy Queen Cubs can be crossed off my want list: Jason Heyward and Ian Happ.
John threw a nice vintage Russ Meyer from 1956 Topps! I didn’t realize it until I checked the back of the card, but Meyer was from Peru, Illinois. I grew up just thirty minutes down Interstate 80 from Peru. Another good stat on the back of the card: Russ Meyer had a 24-3 pitching record against the Cubs before joining the team. Now that’s a Cubs killer.
Here’s a sweet card. Another 1983 Topps Ryne Sandberg Rookie card added to my collection. Maybe I should go all Ben from About the Cards podcast and hoard Sandberg rookies like he hoards 1987 Topps Mark McGwire’s.
Finally, how about this! A new Javier Baez. This is the 2019 Topps 150 years Parallel.
In all, John sent just over 300 Cubs baseball cards. Robert sent a second package and what really stood out were the filler cards! Classic WWF cards from 1990 of the Bushwackers and “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka. I would spend most of my allowance on these WWF cards. These bring back some good memories.
Robert added a nice mix of Cubs cards from greats like Ernie Banks and Sammy Sosa.
