Leaf Buybacks, Autographs, and More Cubs Cards

After being away all weekend, I retrieved the mail from my PO Box on Monday afternoon. It contained five packages of Cubs baseball gold.

Some familiar names on the return address labels. Three of the five packages came from Collectors I have traded with previously. Like Wicked Curve Cards.

Brien in Texas (Wicked Curve Cards) sent a PWE with a Sammy Sosa Fleer Ultra card he found sorting.

And a 2018 Topps Home Run Challenge Willson Contreras.

Glen in Connecticut does the NAFTA trade packages, which I’ve detailed before. We have swapped trade packages a few times now. It’s a surprise on both sides, and Glen tossed in another Jorge Soler Autograph - this one from 2015 Topps Tek.

An autograph from 2013 Panini America’s Pastime of Jays Chapman. It’s numbered 8/10.

A new Javier Baez card. It’s a 2019 Topps Gold numbered 1643/2019.

It seems Buyback cards are a love or hate among collectors. At first I hated them, but now that I’m focused as a team collector I kind of dig them. Leaf had buybacks and stamped them /5 recently. From 1991 Leaf here’s a Danny Jackson numbered 3/5.

Mike Harkey is numbered 4/5.

And Paul Assenmacher is numbered 2/5.

Todd in Iowa sent a couple Ballstreet oddballs that he located after our first trade. Here is Ryne Sandberg.

And Mark Grace. These oddballs are from 1992.

Rafael in New York sent a package of Cubs baseball cards inside a 2019 Panini Contenders Box. I love the message on the painters tape.

Pretty sweet 2019 Bowman blue paper Nico Hoerner numbered 302/499.

Always love Javier Baez cards and the Gypsy Queen Fortune Teller set is really cool.

Speaking of Baez, this is pure baseball card greatness. 2019 Topps Greatness Returns with Baez and Ernie Banks.

Blake in New Mexico sent a batch of Cubs cards in return for some Indians.

Bryan in California sent a box that featured some Greg Maddux cards.

And I feel 1992 Stadium Club is an underrated set. It’s simple, yet elegant.
