Never Before Seen Jerome Walton, and a Five Package Saturday
Maildays picked up over the weekend as my mailbox was jammed with Cubs baseball cards.
Bill in New Jersey sent a package that included some new Cubs for my collection: 2019 Topps Big League Cole Hamels and a 2013 Topps Update Green Parallel Scott Feldman.
JT in Ohio sent a medium flat rate box and take a look inside...the boxes are numbered. I counted the first box to make sure, and it was accurate, so it saved me some counting time.
There were a few Junior Lake cards inside, including a 2014 Topps, 2014 Gypsy Queen, 2014 Allen & Ginter, and 2014 Topps Heritage. Just recently somebody asked me about Lake and I had to look it up. His last appearance in the majors was in 2016 with the Toronto Blue Jays. Lake’s last season in organized professional baseball was in the Boston Red Sox organization in 2017.
Also inside was a 2012 Topps Archives cloth sticker of Starlin Castro.
A jersey relic I don’t have and have never seen. It’s from 2004 Fleer Authentic and features Kerry Wood and Dontrelle Willis. Willis himself was a Cubs prospect before a trade sent him to the Marlins.
Another jersey relic features Mark Prior from 2006 Upper Deck Ovation.
Eleven Javier Baez cards including plenty of Bowman Platinum.
Yash sent over more than 400 Cubs cards including some newbies.
Like this 2018 Topps image variation of Yu Darvish.
How about some Rediscover Topps. They are just older cards stamped, “rediscover Topps.” For some reason I like them. You know, it adds another Ed Lynch to collect.
Look at these Kyle Schwarber cards. The 2015 Bowman’s Best is as thick as a dozen cards. The Donruss rated rookie is numbered 17/199, and I love the floating head Schwarber.
Greg in Oregon sent another box and it had more than 1,000 Cubs cards. I love trading with Greg because it allows me to get rid of those ugly Green Bay Packers cards. He included some 2019 Leather & Lumber cards and these are the first for me. A couple Javier Baez and a Kyle Schwarber.
Another first from 2019, it’s a Francisco Arcia Topps Inception Rookie Card.
Love me some Javy Baez, and here’s a Bowman Rookie Card.
I’ve never even seen this Jerome Walton Card. Love it! It’s from 1988 Peoria Chiefs denoting his 1987 Midwest League All Star status.
And another card I’ve never seen. Mark Prior from the Merrick Mint dated 2003.
