Tommy Likey. Tommy Sends Cubbies
Weak attempt at Tommy Boy humor with this headline. In my defense, the trade partner for today’s package of Cubs baseball cards goes by Tommy on Twitter and he lives just 90 miles from Sandusky, Ohio...setting for the movie Tommy Boy.
Now it’s time to get serious. Cubs baseball card serious, which sounds like an oxymoron. Tommy reached out after I opened some 2019 Topps Heritage Minors boxes and expressed interest in some of the cards.
Tommy sent a package of almost 150 Cubs baseball cards with a great mix of cards from the 1980’s to today. The highlight of the bunch is a 1983 Topps Ryne Sandberg rookie card.
Javier Baez is always a player I keep an eye out for when receiving Cubs packages. Here are a few Javy cards that came in this box of Cubs.
It was also filled with some Kyle Schwarber cards. It was nice to see Schwarbs break out in the home run category in 2019, leading the Cubs in long balls.
Thanks for the trade, Tommy, and my apologies at the poor attempt of humor.
