Monday Mailbag: Is Sammy Sosa Hall of Fame Worthy?

Monday’s are not Monday’s when you come home to baseball cards. Cubs baseball cards make the day even better.

Bill in New Jersey and J.D. in San Antonio brightened this Monday with packages of Cubs baseball cards.

Bill’s box had a little bit of everything in terms of Cubs talent. From Cubs legends like Ryne Sandberg, Sammy Sosa, and Javier Baez...

To long-time solid Cubs like Shawon Dunston, Jamie Moyer, and Manny Trillo.

And a trio of “oh yeah...I forgot they were Cubs,” like Jason Kendall, Willie Hernandez, and Xavier Nady.

J.D. is doing a hobby purge and was happy to send some Cubs my direction. Too bad he didn’t include some of that Texas weather.

One card was a new add to my collection. It’s a candy topper insert from 2019 Topps Archives of Anthony Rizzo.

The following two cards stood out to me for two reasons. First: these are shiny and really stood out. More importantly: is Sammy Sosa Hall of Fame worthy? The longer the steroids era guys are shunned the more I think they should be enshrined. Sosa hit more than 600 home runs. Cubs bias aside, I think Sosa should be in Cooperstown. As should Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Mark McGwire, etc.

Going back to the forgotten Cubs. Who remembers Ivanon Coffie, Bobby Molinaro, Lary Sorensen, and Nic Jackson?
