#TeamPWE Mailday Times Three
When I opened my mailbox on Friday I saw three plain white envelopes (PWE) staring back at me. All three were sent by Rob in Michigan.
He was able to send 32 Cubs baseball cards in total among the three envelopes, and none were damaged. It was a nice selection of late 1980's and early 1990's Cubs cards. The 1989 Fleer design seems like a love it or hate it set. I go back and forth on whether or not I like it. Since it was the first year I really began collecting baseball cards, it's a bit of nostalgia for me. The Cubs roster that included Mike Bielecki, Mitch Webster, Damon Berryhill, and Vance Law also takes me back to hearing Harry Caray and Steve Stone calling Cubs games on TV.
My second package was another #NAFTA package from Glen in Connecticut. The mailer featured more than 40 Cubs cards sandwiched by a couple hits. A manufactured Anthony Rizzo relic from 2018 Topps. Recently, I posed the question, "Do you like manufactured relics?" on Twitter and was surprised by the amount of respondents that do like them. It seems the manufactured relics get a bad rap in the hobby. Topps has done some nice work with some of them in the past.
Also inside were some Topps Fire from 2019 of Jon Lester and Kris Bryant. These are the red foil parallels.
The other hit in this package is a Topps Gold Label Victor Caratini autograph. These Gold Label autographs are really cool and super thick. It's unfortunate that more collectors do not seek Topps Gold Label cards.
